Meet Mariela Trujillo Torres!

She is 55 years old and cares for her 3 grandchildren. Before the Covid-19 pandemic she worked in a local motorcycle repair and cleaning shop; however, along with so many others like her, she quickly lost her job when the first lockdowns occurred. Mariela had no options and no way of caring for her grandchildren, so she reached out to the Help One Now Peru team. They were able to assess Mariela and her family’s needs, as well as what type of viable business options she had. They quickly decided that she would be a good fit for the Family Business Program and enrolled her for the next round of training!

Mariela has begun her training and will soon be able to launch her new breakfast restaurant, “El Guacamayo.” She has picked out a great location in her community and believes it will be very successful based on demand and the nearby market traffic.

Once her business is open and profitable, Mariela wants to expand and be able to employ other women who have struggled through the pandemic. She also wants to build her own house that will be a familial home for her grandchildren and the generations after them.
