Let’s Help Our Partners BeLoved Atlanta!

Friends of Beloved Atlanta,

My name is B.T. Harman, and I’m a board member for Beloved (and also an Advisory Board Member for Legacy Collective).

I’m writing with some sad news.

Sunday evening, the Beloved Atlanta staff was notified that a house adjacent to one of the Beloved homes caught fire in the night.

Thankfully, the Atlanta Fire Department responded quickly, alerted our residents next door, and rushed them past the inferno, to safety.

The intensity of the blaze was so great, the firefighters worried our home may ignite. In the chaos, they opened up our attic space to check for flames.

And in the process, the home was gutted.

Furniture is destroyed. Heaping piles of insulation have buried the residents’ belongings. It’s a complete mess.

The house will be uninhabitable for several months. Our displaced residents will take temporary shelter in our other two homes during that time.

We’re so grateful that none of our residents (or anyone else for that matter) was injured.

We’re grateful our house didn’t burn down (the other house was reduced to ashes).

And we’re grateful for the heroic first responders who helped keep our residents safe.

Nevertheless, this has taken a major toll on our residents and staff…

Programming has been interrupted…

Staff members have dealt with a new level of stress…

And worst of all, residents have experienced the trauma of having their home—their place of peace & refuge—plunged into total disarray.

After chatting with my fellow board members, we agreed that we needed to do something special to encourage our staff and residents during this challenging time.

So we’ve decided to organize an emergency fundraising campaign for Beloved.

Will you help us?

I know many of you have given to Beloved before, and we’re so grateful for that. If you’re able, I’d like to ask you to go beyond your normal giving and support this emergency campaign.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 in the next 7 days.

These funds will send a message—loud and clear—to our staff and residents:

We love you. We support you. And no matter what happens, we’ve got your back.

These campaign funds will be used to…

  1. Pay for any disaster-related costs not covered by insurance, and
  2. Bolster Beloved’s operational budget for the remainder of the year.

Please support this special emergency fund now, and thank you in advance!
