The world can be a cruel place for LGBTQ+ youth.

The Mama Bears Giving Circle is a community of monthly donors that gives grants to LGBTQ+ non-profits working to make the world a safer & more inclusive place for our children.

A Giving Circle is a community of like-minded people that come together to give, learn, and issue grants collectively to nonprofits making a deeper impact together.

The Mama Bears Giving Circle is dedicated to funding nonprofits that support the LGBTQ+ community. When you give to the Mama Bears Giving Circle, 10% of your donations will go directly to The Real Mama Bears to continue their great work and the remainder of the grants will be issued equally to the nonprofits listed below.

And this is just the beginning…  We know that there are so many wonderful nonprofits impacting our LGBTQ+ community so in the near future YOU – our Giving Circle community – will have the opportunity to nominate and vote for nonprofits to be included in the Mama Bears Giving Circle!

We’re excited to announce our first four grant recipients!

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people. We believe LGBTQ young people deserve a welcoming, loving world. And we wake up every day dedicated to making that a reality.

Gender Spectrum

Gender Spectrum works to create gender sensitive and inclusive environments for all children and teens. Our approach is to take the critical areas of children’s lives and work to bring greater gender understanding and inclusion. We focus on creating gender-inclusive spaces throughout the primary domains of all children’s lives. We start with the child, then radiate outwards, working with adults and institutions that affect all children to create gender-inclusive environments from birth through young adulthood.

Tyler Clementi Foundation

In 2011, The Tyler Clementi Foundation was born out of the urgent need to address bullying challenges facing vulnerable populations, especially LGBT communities and other victims of hostile social environments. Not only do we continue to carry the important message about the suicide risk facing many LGBT youth, who can be three to seven times more at risk for suicide than other youth, but also our message of standing up to bullying speaks universally across all cultures and identities.

GLSEN believes that every student has the right to a safe, supportive, and LGBTQ-inclusive K-12 education. We are a national network of educators, students, and local GLSEN Chapters working to make this right a reality.  Our research and experience has shown that there are four major ways that schools can cultivate a safe and supportive environment for all of their students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.  These 4 supports are the focus of GLSEN’s programs, advocacy, research, and policy work.
