MEET AARON OTSTOTT, LEGACY COLLECTIVE BOARD MEMBER!
for September 7, 2020
Hey Legacy Collective community! I’m Aaron Otstott and I’ve been a member of the Legacy Collective Board of Directors for around 2 years now. I’m a 46 year old dad with two amazing teen girls, and a wonderful wife Whitney. I’m a senior graphics engineer at Electronic Arts and have been in the video game industry for 20 years now. I grew up in Texas, studied at Texas A&M, but made it to Austin as fast as I could. I became a Christian in Jr. High and my relationship with Jesus has steered me toward being progressive in my political views. I try to live my life based on Jesus’ core teachings “love God, love people, and the way you love God is to love people”. We discovered Legacy Collective when we were looking for a charity that shows love for people and makes a sustainable impact in their lives. I love that Legacy Collective doesn’t just support charities but creates a community that energizes people to become more philanthropic themselves. One of the organizations that Legacy Collective supports that I particularly love is Miracle Foundation. I love that Miracle Foundation doesn’t just try to meet the immediate needs of orphans, but they strive to meet their lifelong emotional needs by creating families.
A bit about me personally: I’m someone who enjoys learning what makes people laugh and as a result, my daughters have limited me to 3 dad jokes a day. I love outdoor activities like jogging, paddle boarding, and windsurfing. I’m always interested in science and technology, and I’m a car nut. I like collecting unique/humorous t-shirts about Star Sars and cars. I am currently reading the “Wings of Fire” books with my youngest daughter, and enjoy reading non-fiction on various technical/scientific topics and current events (I’m an NPR junkie). I am currently watching “Community” with my wife and we also enjoy documentaries such as “Becoming”. Musically I like Beck, Radiohead, and Death Cab for Cutie, or when driving my daughters to ballet practice, Billie Eilish, and Oh Wonder. I’m very blessed and love the opportunities to give back through Legacy Collective.
