Spring 2017 Grant Recipient: Gifted Education Foundation
for April 18, 2017
The Gifted Education Foundation is a social enterprise that provides career development training to improve employees’ soft skills like customer service, sales and management. There are four phases which all include educational opportunities and a structured system of leaders that guides them through the process.
During Phase 1, students learn general life skills and improve their ability to take standardized tests, building college awareness and directing students toward scholarship and financial aid options. While going through the second phase, students learn more about the college application process through training that takes place on a college campus. During Phase 3, students are assigned a Life Development Coordinator and placed in cohorts where they are taught accountability and encouraged to take on internships, fellowships and research graduate school options. Finally, once they are in the fourth phase students work to cultivate leadership skills, enhance existing relationships and develop a civic community plan. They now start receiving preparation for mid level to senior level executive programs in philanthropy and high impact community development.
The Gifted Education Foundation implements these so that students graduating from this program after completing college have a successful job in the marketplace or have successfully been accepted into a graduate program.
