Summer 2017 Grant Recipient: Eden Ministry
for August 16, 2017
Of 40.3 million women that are trapped in slavery around the world, almost half are sold for sexual exploitation. Eden Ministry is a holistic program that cares for women who have been sold as brides or trafficked for sexual exploitation through spiritual, economic, and social well being. The mission of Eden Ministry is to guide women into a life full of dignity and hope. Each piece of jewelry that the women make is inspired by true stories from courageous women. Creating pieces that carry stories of hope and courage into the world is therapeutic and empowers survivors. Eden pays each woman for a full day but they only make jewelry half of the time, and the other half is spent working towards spiritual healing and counseling, dance and therapy. Eden offers these women a message of hope and a plan for escape.
Eden Ministry serves to rescue and restore young women who have been trafficked into Sexual Exploitation through holistic programs, vocational training, Christian discipleship, and Trauma Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We reach entire red- light districts and those trafficked for sexual exploitation through innovative prevention, outreach, and advocacy strategies – transforming entire communities. We rescue the sexually exploited, and provide a safe and dignified environment for them to live and work. We journey with them out of trauma to restore dignity and hope for their future. We care for the whole person: their physical, emotional, spiritual, economic, and social well-being. Eden is a voice to victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, offering them the opportunity to realize their full potential.
