CITY GIVING CIRCLES

Empowering Organizations to Invest in Indy Through Meetings and Events

Organizations can activate a turn-key CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program through Legacy Collective’s City Giving Circle. Our City Giving Circle allows access for companies & individuals to securely and easily fund grants for a wide variety of Indianapolis non-profits in need of support. Legacy Collective provides oversight of financial accountability, facilitates grant distribution and reports on use of funds, so that organizations can give with confidence, knowing their donations are going to those in need.

Indy City Giving Circle Nonprofits

Organizations can choose from the following fully vetted Indianapolis nonprofits to receive funding, or can elect to donate to a selection of them. For groups and individuals looking for hands-on ways to give back, these community partners offer an array of volunteer options as well. Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis

Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis believes every young person deserves to live a life filled with hope and opportunity and provides a safe haven for young people from distressed communities across Indianapolis. The Clubs are surrounded by some of the most economically challenged neighborhoods in the city. Roughly 81% of Club youth qualify for free or reduced lunch and 52% come from single-parent households. Each club provides children a safe place to learn, to grow, and to play for only $25 per school year.

Center for Leadership Development

The mission of Center for Leadership Development is to foster the advancement of minority youth in Central Indiana as future professional, business, and community leaders by providing experiences that encourage personal development and educational attainment. For over 40 years, CLD has successfully provided participants with enriching programs that have served the youths’ learning and developmental experience. As a result, 12,000 African American and minority youth have been trained, nurtured, and guided by CLD to work hard, go to college, and realize their dreams.

Central Indiana Land Trust

Central Indiana Land Trust preserves the best of Central Indiana’s natural areas, protecting plants and animals, so Hoosiers can experience the wonder of the state’s natural heritage. The Central Indiana Land Trust has protected over 7,600 acres of Indiana’s natural heritage since 1990 by owning and managing nature preserves, forging legal agreements with willing landowners to protect their land, and helping landowners develop and implement stewardship plans that protect their properties’ unique conservation values.

Firefly Children and Family Alliance

Firefly Children and Family Alliance has supported Indiana families and adults for generations. The organization is built on the belief that giving kids and adults the chance to succeed creates stronger communities. Firefly helps Hoosiers overcome hardship and unhealthy behaviors. Their programs and services include child abuse prevention, home-based services, youth placement and recovery services. In 2021, Children’s Bureau and Families First merged to become Firefly Children and Family Alliance.

Foster Success

Foster Success’s mission is to support and empower teens and young adults on their journey transitioning out of foster care. Their programs and leaders empower young adults to create their own journey to self-sufficiency and stability. Foster Success provides support through programs and resources that allow young adults to be educated, housed, financially stable, employed, and connected to a support system by their 26th birthday.

Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana

Since 1930, Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana has helped Hoosiers become more economically self-sufficient through employment, education, job training and other services. Today, they are one of the largest of the more than 160 Goodwills in North America, providing services to many thousands of individuals and families each year. Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana serves 39 Hoosier counties.

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is an environmental and community nonprofit with a mission to help people and nature thrive. KIB believes in shared responsibility, and believes that sustainability starts with love. KIB engages and empowers citizens of all ages and backgrounds to take action. From tree planting to block-by-block cleanups, they roll up our sleeves to keep Indianapolis beautiful and make their city proud-both today and for generations. Each year, KIB supports over 800 community projects with nearly 20,000 volunteers.

Pack Away Hunger

Every day people in corners of the globe go to sleep on empty stomachs, including millions of malnourished children. Pack Away Hunger fights this reality by giving passionate people a hands-on way to create meals for families around the corner and around the globe. Their meal packing programs are a fun and inspiring way to make a tangible difference in the fight against hunger.

Teachers’ Treasures

Teachers’ Treasures obtains and distributes school supplies free to teachers of students in need. Donated educational supplies are distributed via their volunteer run “Store for Teachers” to teachers working in schools with a 60% or higher free or reduced lunch rate. Over 100,000 students are impacted by the work Teachers’ Treasures each year.

White River Alliance

The White River Alliance improves and protects water resources throughout Central Indiana. They are an alliance of diverse interests and organizations that work together to steward the River and its watershed. The Alliance serves as the premier resource for regional water quality by creating positive change through projects and educational initiatives that improve the White River Watershed for all users.

Support Indianapolis Nonprofits

If payment is made by check, the 5% credit card processing fee will be waived, and 90% of your donation will benefit the nonprofits selected.

Instructions for Meeting Planners

You can choose to have your funding 1) go to one of the above listed nonprofits, 2) divided amongst multiple nonprofits, or 3) if you have other local nonprofits you’d like to support, Legacy Collective will be happy to vet the organizations for you. Please contact Legacy Collective with any questions on vetting criteria or around additional organizations. citygiving@legacycollective.org

When building your event registration portal, you can add an option for attendees to manually enter a specific dollar amount to the Indy City Giving Circle, or you can pre-fill the giving amount and allow attendees to opt in, or you can leave this out of your registration process and choose to simply donate a specific amount directly to the Indy City Giving Circle.

Once your registration period has closed, you can either send Legacy Collective a check, wire, or ACH payment with a letter indicating which of the organizations you would like to receive the funding, or you can pay online with a credit card under your organization and let us know by email where the funding should be allocated. Credit card payments incur a 5% processing fee, to avoid the 5% processing fee and have 90% of your donation benefit the nonprofits selected, please email citygiving@legacycollective.org for instructions to pay by check, ACH or wire transfer.

You can also choose to make this an interactive experience at your event by highlighting the nonprofits and allowing your attendees to vote on the recipients of the funding.

Legacy will then issue the grants and follow up with impact reporting to let you know how the funds were used!
