We are excited to announce The Trevor Project as the next grant recipient from the Jen Hatmaker Book Club!
The Book Club has collectively given $3,500 towards The Trevor Project’s general operating fund to support their great work supporting LGBTQ+ youth!
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.
The Trevor Project provides LGBTQ youth with free, confidential 24/7 crisis counseling via phone, text, and chat.
The Trevor Project also has a powerful advocacy program. Through legislation, litigation, and public education, The Trevor Project is the leading advocate for LGBTQ youth mental health in preventative and intervention efforts at the federal, state, and local level to address factors that place LGBTQ youth at significantly higher risk of suicide.
The organization is also an influential leader in the research space, producing actionable and informative research reports that shed light on the challenges the LGBTQ young people disproportionately face. In providing deeper research insights, Trevor strives to identify not only the risk factors that contribute to suicide and mental health challenges, but also to discover protective factors that may reduce risk and improve LGBTQ youth mental health.
And The Trevor Project team knows that knowledge is power! They have fantastic educational tools and resources that we can all learn from and share with others.
