On April 8, 2024, Destinations International held their 2024 Convention Sales and Services Summit in Washington D.C.
During the kickoff, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about City Giving Circles and how they can incorporate them locally at their events to support local nonprofits. Attendees then had the opportunity to vote for a grant to be issued to one of the nonprofit partners in Legacy Collective’s current City Giving Circles.
$500 was awarded to Café Momentum, who has locations launching nationally. Café Momentum provides a transformative experience through a paid internship program designed to provide 12-months of curriculum for justice-involved youth, ages 15-19. Their interns rotate through all aspects of the restaurant, focusing on life and social skills, coaching and development.
The next $500 was awarded to Next Generation Men & Women Atlanta, who won the vote from the conference attendees. Next Gen closes the opportunity gap for under-resourced students in Atlanta through exposure and support. Next Gen provides Atlanta youth with regular exposure to career pathways, professionals, work environments and personalized support in the form of Teachers and College Mentors.
The other organizations highlighted for attendees to vote on were The Opportunity Center, Inc. in Kissimmee and Center for Leadership Development in Indianapolis.
We are grateful for our partnerships with Destinations International, Discover Atlanta, Visit Indy, Visit Baltimore, and Visit Kissimmee! TOGETHER, we will leave a legacy in our cities!
